“Assorted Rides” starring Devon Howard

This isn’t Devon Howard‘s first appearance on the Clipz series, and it’s not hard to see why. Maybe I’m just old, but I much prefer watching Howard surf compared to a lot of pros. The edit, by Florida-based filmmaker Drew Miller, showcases Howard on a few different Thomas Surfboards longboards, and a 6’10” Channel Islands CI Mid. Howard’s unhurried but powerful frontside cutbacks on the CI Mid are worth the price of admission alone.

Shed Sessions Season 3 Episode 1: Dylan Graves x Stanley Pleskunas

Surfer Magazine’s excellent Shed Sessions is back for its third season. For those unfamiliar with the series, Shed Sessions brings some pros by Bird’s Surf Shed, where Bird outfits them with some cool vintage boards and hijinks ensue. This episode pairs pro surfer Dylan Graves, who stars in his own Weird Waves series, with a Stanley Pleskunas shape that has since been given the Pendoflex treatment. I kind of got the impression that Graves wasn’t crazy about the board, but I enjoyed the video and I’m stoked to see what comes next. If you haven’t visited Bird’s Surf Shed yet, it is a must.

Tom Curren in Taylor Steele’s “One Step Beyond”

Believe it or not, Taylor Steele released some movies before the generation-defining “Momentum.” Here’s Tom Curren in 1990 from “One Step Beyond.” This clip comes via Steele’s excellent Momentum Files channel on YouTube.
