Greetings, Shredderz! Today we’ve got an amazing Bing Surfboards ad all the way back from 1967. I found this ad on Pinterest. Link to the original image can be found here.

First, I love the hand drawn artwork. I don’t know who the artist is but the result is an ad that grabs your attention — which is the whole point, I suppose. I can’t quite make out all the text — looks like there’s something about Clark Foam towards the bottom right — but it’s a small price to pay for the awesome visuals.
Even better, the ad features the Bing David Nuuhiwa Noserider Model, along with an action shot of Nuuhiwa. And I can’t quite get over the fact that Dick Brewer’s famous Pipeliner Model is relegated to second banana status, given that it’s one of the most collectible surfboards in the world. Bing Surfboards has such an incredible history, and featuring one single ad from their storied run feels a little like a drop in the bucket, but it’s better than nothing.
Thanks for reading and we’ll be back next Thursday with another Sagas of Shred entry, featuring more vintage surf ads from the labels you know and love!
Soooo goood. Love the old ads, especially anything that is hand drawn. I dig the surf shops are the the leaves. Would be curious about the artist too. nice one !
