Greetings, Shredderz! Today we’ve got an ad featuring an all time classic surfboard model: the Campbell Brothers’ tri fin Bonzer, produced in conjunction with Bing Surfboards.

I found this Bing Bonzer ad via The Finbox, which has a truly amazing stash of vintage fin ads. Definitely check out the site when you can.
The Campbell Brothers have been nothing but consistent over the years. This ad, which was published in 1974, goes into detail about the hydrodynamics of the Bonzer design and how the concaves create a Venturi effect. And now, as surf media has moved online, their webpage has an entire section dedicated to explaining the mechanics of water flow while riding one of their designs. It’s also cool to see Mike Eaton get a shout out in the ad, too. The photos were shot by Craig Fineman, and while I dig the design of the ad, it doesn’t really do Fineman’s photography justice. He took some beautiful photos over the years, and my only complaint is that there aren’t more of them floating around online.
Thanks for reading and we’ll be back next Thursday with more Sagas of Shred!
