Greetings, Shredderz! Welcome to the latest installment of Sagas of Shred, where we feature a different vintage surf ad every Thursday. Today we’ve got another ad from the good folks at Katin, who ran some memorable campaigns over the years. Katin is one of the many heritage brands making a modern comeback, and they’ve sponsored some great surfers, like Zack Flores and Devon Howard.

The ad had to have been taken sometime in the 70s, judging from the boards (though I’m not sure what to make of that crazy greenish yellow and red shape at the very bottom of the picture). The featured surfers are Dru Harrison and Mike Marsh. The photo was taken by none other than Leroy Grannis. I love the art direction, and especially that insane rainbow font. And of course, how sick are the shorts themselves? I don’t have the stones to rock those paisley ones but I’m happy to admire them from the safety of my own home.
Thanks for reading and we hope to see you next week for more Sagas of Shred!
