Greetings, Shredderz! I’m guessing that many of you, like me, spend far too much time refreshing Craigslist in the mostly futile search for awesome boards. Every once in a while, just when you think you’re going to scream if you spend another ten seconds looking at the same crappy boards, something appears like an oasis in the desert. Such is the case for this beautiful Unity Surfboards 70s single fin.

You can find the board on Craigslist here. The board was posted on eBay a little while ago, but I’m guessing the Craigslist seller fixed it up a bit before posting it for sale.

Unity Surfboards was an LA-based label that was owned by Pat Reardon. I wish I had more info about the label — I know Robert “Redman” Manville used to shape for Unity, too — but there isn’t much info available online.

The board measures 7’0″ x 20″ x 3″ (note: these measurements were on the earlier eBay listing, and not the Craigslist ad.) I’m always intrigued by swallow tail single fins. I wonder why you see relatively few swallow tail single fins, especially modern ones. The bottom and the rails have been refinished, and the deck is untouched. The fin is original, too.
I absolutely love the colors on this stick. And my favorite touch, like many others, I’m guessing, are the killer triple resin pin lines on the deck. Check out the detail on the swallowtail. It’s so clean and simple, and the color scheme makes everything pop.

A big shout out to the seller for keeping the original fin with the board, when it might have made more economic sense to sell it separately. It looks like it’s the original screw, too, before leash plugs became commonplace.
