Skip Frye Gordon & Smith Ad

Greetings, Shredderz! Today we’ve got a classic ad that I’ve seen floating around the internet in various places. It’s too bad it’s not a higher quality scan, but oh well, it’s still worth featuring. Here’s a late 60s Gordon & Smith ad featuring two unusual Skip Frye designs: the Baby Gun and the V Bottom.

I’m not sure these models were made for anything more than a handful of years. Skip’s signature wings literally haven’t changed in almost 60 years. If I’m not mistaken the color on the boards was done by Sam Cody, as suggested by the “Original Color Designs by Cody” copy on the ad. It’s amazing to compare this one to another G&S Skip Frye ad that’s just a few years older. Finally, if you want more Transition Era goodness from Skip, check out this ad for his signature W.A.V.E. Set fin.
