Greetings, Shredderz! There’s been no shortage of rad surfboards for sale recently, and that’s certainly the case when it comes to this 80s Ben Aipa quad that is currently listed on eBay. You can check out the original listing here.

This stick is in shockingly good condition. The dims are 7’10” x 22 3/16″ x 3 1/8″, so this one is for big boys only. If this isn’t enough foam for you, please call your physician ASAP — that’s a you problem!

I’m really fascinated by the tail on this board. As you can see it’s got a pretty short squash tail — almost like as if a round tail had been chopped off at the very tip. While Aipa is best known for inventing the sting, he definitely wasn’t afraid to experiment with new designs over the years. Check out this absolutely insane 2+1 Aipa dubbed “Da Fang”, and then this twin fin Aipa shaped for a very young Luke Egan.

The last interesting detail about this board is that it was apparently shaped for Ventura Surf Shop. And if you’re looking for some truly obscure Aipa trivia in the category of boards he shaped in California, check out this stick he made under the Zephyr label (no, not a typo, I’m equally as stunned as you are.)

The listing for the board can be found here. Although it was shaped for Ventura Surf Shop, the board is currently located in Hawaii. The seller is asking $1,200, which I think is not outrageous considering Aipa’s status, the condition of the board, and its unusual features.
