The Bruce Movie

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

I’ll always have a soft spot for late 90s and early 2000s Volcom, and I will continue to insist — completely unsolicited, of course — that the brand’s heyday is still underrated. This isn’t exactly a hot take, but damn, Volcom really did some creative and unique shit back in the day. They also had the perfect roster of team riders to back up the whole “Youth Against Establishment” thing, led by Bruce Irons. I don’t know what Bruce is up to these days — sadly, as far as I can tell, it doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of surfing — but I hope we get to see more of him in the near future.

Technically this image below is a poster for The Bruce Movie, which was directed by Ryan Thomas, the same filmmaker behind other excellent films like “Psychic Migrations” and “Temporal Collections”. I’m also excited to see what Thomas does next, as I think he brings a rare level of artistry and individuality to surf filmmaking.

Last but not least, a heartfelt thanks to anyone and everyone who has taken the time to read this blog. It never gets old knowing that people take time out of their days to read some of the stuff I write. I hope to give you all even more reasons to continue to visit Shred Sledz, and release more projects and collaborations that are worthy of your time and support. Thank you.
