Greetings, Shredderz! Soft tops are back in style and we’re all being reassured that these boards are for people who can actually surf. I still suck at surfing but I guess that just means I’m part of the original demographic. Regardless of your skill level, Tom Morey deserves acknowledgement as the guy who, by my rough estimate, invented about 30% of the surfing technology we use today. Here’s an ad for the Morey Doyle, an early soft top made in conjunction with Mike Doyle. It’s amazing how the marketing for this model, despite being decades old, is no different from what we’re being told with today’s explosion of soft top brands.
