
Greetings, Shredderz! There’s no doubt that wetsuit technology has progressed over the years, and we’re all better off for it. And with the rise of the direct to consumer business model, wetsuit prices have gone done considerably, too. I’ve been thrilled with Need Essentials suits — they’re super warm and very reasonably priced.

That said I’d love to see a wider spectrum of self-expression when it comes to wetsuits, although I’m personally gonna stick to the usual boring stuff. If nothing else I want to see more wetsuit brands doing some crazy shit, like this watermelon Body Glove number modeled by Scott Daley in the ad featured above. You don’t have to go full Shawn “Barney” Barron, either — for example, take this Rip Curl suit from the 80s, modeled by Brad Gerlach, that strikes a decent balance between trying something different without going too crazy. In the meantime, there are plenty of old wetsuit ads to keep us all inspired.
