Col Smith Channel Bottom Bonanza + More: Social Media Roundup

Greetings, Shredderz! Here are some Instagram highlights from the past month or so, including a ridiculous collection of Col Smith channel bottom boards, a Phil Edwards Honolulu in action and more.

Here’s Matt Chojnacki surfing a Phil Edwards Honolulu. Always cool to see footage of these boards in the water, especially when it’s under the feet of a talented surfer like Matt. My only complaint is that there isn’t more footage!

I’ve recently been really digging Tom Pearsall’s photography. Here’s a stunning shot of surfer Luke Russell Saranah that I’m still figuring out (it literally took me ten minutes to realize where Luke’s head is in the shot).

Doug Haut, 83 years old and still at it, as captured by fellow Santa Cruz shaper Travis Reynolds. Let’s say Reynolds is forty — can you imagine if he’s still building boards forty three years from now? (Which I hope will be the case.) Respect to the originals, and especially the ones still building boards decades later.

A few folks on Instagram put me onto @williesboards. He’s been collecting notable Aussie surfboards and featuring them on Instagram, including this ridiculous selection of 70s Col Smith (Newcastle) channel bottom boards. Give Willie a follow!
