Lightning Bolt Single Fin by Tom Eberly

Greetings, Shredderz! We’re back with a doozy of a surfboard. Until recently, this beautiful Tom Eberly-shaped Bolt single fin was up for grabs on eBay. It’s not clear what the board went for in the end, but the list price was $1,700.

The board measures 6’6″ and according to the seller it was shaped in 1980. As you can see, the board still pops, and it’s got that classic red and yellow Bolt color way that we’ve all come to know and love. It was shaped by Tom Eberly, who I believe got his start by glassing many Bolts in the 70s.

The Eberly Bolt is by no means in perfect condition, but I don’t mind a couple of rough spots here and there. From a purely aesthetic perspective I prefer all original boards to even the cleanest and crispiest resto job, but that’s a personal preference.

Last but not least, the board also comes with its original fin, which looks to be in pretty amazing shape. Overall it’s a beautiful example from perhaps the single most influential surfboard label of all time, and that’s always worth noting.
