Cherry, Kenson, Progression: Mid Week Grab Bag

Greetings, Shredderz! Welcome to a Wednesday installment of the Weekend Grab Bag. Here are some cool boards that are all listed for sale as of publishing time.

John Cherry Simmons-Style Planing Hulls (Craigslist San Diego)

My interest in John Cherry’s surfboards and fins can be directly traced back to the Surfy Surfy blog, still one of the internet’s pre-eminent destinations for hand shaped surfboard content. I have no idea what Cherry is up to these days, but he made some beautiful boards with equally stunning wooden fins. Someone is selling two of Cherry’s Simm21 model, which is his take on Bob Simmons’ planing hull design, as championed by Richard Kenvin of Hydrodynamica. Here’s a Surfy Surfy post with more pics of the yellow one.

8’9″ Stu Kenson Channel Bottom Single Fin (OfferUp)

Now this is a weapon. Would I ever dream of taking this stick out in the kind of conditions where it’d actually be functional? Ha, don’t make me laugh. But if you’ve got the balls of a hellman and the good taste of a gallerist, well, this one is for you. Apparently Kenson shaped this for a Boardroom show many moons ago, and it’s still in pristine condition.

7’6″ Natural Progression Single Fin (OfferUp)

Here’s a stunning Robbie Dick shape, listed for $800. The bottom looks like it may have been re-glassed at some point, but it’s a head turner for sure.
