A Quick Update

Beginning in March 2020, I have written exactly fifteen blog posts every month for Shred Sledz. That’s 180 posts each year, which means over the past three plus years, I have written 690 blog posts. For someone who has lurched through life constantly starting and abandoning projects, Shred Sledz has been an insane outlier. Even as I review the numbers, I’m shocked at how consistently I’ve been able to churn out posts on this blog.

In 2024, I will be writing eight posts a month. This doesn’t mean I will be working less on Shred Sledz. In fact, it’s the opposite. Now that I’ve proven to myself that I can actually follow through with this venture, it’s time to focus on quality over quantity.

Exactly what that looks like remains to be seen. I recently started an email newsletter, which I’m excited about (check out the most recent issue here, and enter your email at the bottom of the page to start receiving the updates.)

I started writing this blog because I wanted to learn more about surfboards and shapers, and was frustrated that there wasn’t anything that addressed my need. Similarly, I look at the surf media landscape today, and despite the overwhelming amount of content available, I feel that same vague sense of dissatisfaction. Surfing is only thing in this world that simultaneously sets me on fire and then poses questions that linger in my head for days. And yet almost everything I read, watch and listen to about surfing doesn’t capture that same feeling.

Hopefully I can do my part to close that gap. I just want to make Shred Sledz really, really good. I’m going to give it a shot in 2024, and I hope you follow along. Last but not least, a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has spent any time on the site over the past few years — it means the world, and I’m hoping I can continue to make it worth your time.

Henry
